Parkview refuse, rubble and recycling

Parkview refuse and recycling removal

Parkview suburb refuse gets collected on Friday mornings. Collection is generally quite early in the morning, so be careful not to get out there too late and miss the collection.

We do have a second collection that takes place on Fridays for recycling. Household recycling is placed in clear bags. It is a mixed-recycling collection so you can place plastic, glass, tins, paper etc. in the same bag and leave the bags directly outside your property. Do not put these bags into a bin. When the recycling gets collected the replacement bags are thrown over your wall. If you run out of, or don’t get your replacement bags for the recycling (they do seem to go missing), you can collect bags from Postnet in Parkview.

Private recycling companies

Whole Earth
There is a private company called Whole Earth who collect mixed recycling on Tuesdays. You buy your own blue or green bin through them. They supply a sticker and blue bags to put your recycling into.

There is a charge of around R100/month. You put all your recycling into one bin – paper, glass, tins, plastic, e-waste etc. They provide a list of what can be recycled. One of our residents wrote: “They are extremely reliable and always let customers know if they cannot make it on a particular day, and then usually arrive the next.”

Building rubble reminder

Please make sure that you use a reputable person to remove your building rubble. It is pivotal that the rubble is disposed of responsibly and taken to a proper dumping site.
